A number of factors act against the possibility of Mbeki mediating between Mugabe and MDC.

First of all Mugabe has made it categorically clear that he cannot relinquish the three ministries; defense, internal affairs and foreign affairs.

I therefore do not see any body convincing him.

Two, Mbeki who unfortunately had an unceremonious exit, isn’t the best choice to mediate between the two sides.

What he is doing is only self-deception!

Unless there is seriousness in the efforts to end the mistrust, we shall not see the conflict end soon.
