President Paul Kagame this afternoon arrived in Southern Province’s Nyanza District where he is expected to visit a major irrigation project in the district today and interact with thousands of residents of Nyanza and neighbouring areas.

The President will today visit an irrigation water dam of 1,500,000 cubic meters built in Rwabicuma Sector in Nyanza District.

The dam will provide water for irrigation at an area of 300 hectares of farmlands in Nyanza District’s three sectors of Rwabicuma, Nyagisozi, and Cyabakamyi.

Local officials say that the irrigation dam will boost agricultural productivity in Nyanza District, whose agricultural activities in certain areas would be halted during dry season.
