RE: "Cargo transport sector gets boost as over 200 RHD trucks are imported” (The New Times, September 8).

Good news...this ban lift should be extended to other types of vehicles. Indeed, in all cases, for used cars, which most of Rwandans, can afford to import, Right hand drive (RHD) cars are always at least 20 to 30 per cent cheaper than left hand drive (LHD) ones.

Imagine the amount of money that can be saved by Rwandans and used for infrastructure development, for instance, if the ban was lifted.

Regardless that the driving system is RHD or LHD in a country, having the steering wheel of a car at the left or right side of the road doesn’t really much matter for an experienced driver.

I think there is much to save by lifting this ban rather than keeping it for historical and other less important reasons only.
