Mubarak Wakaso scored the lone strike against Rwanda on Saturday in the AFCON 2017 qualifier in Kigali.

Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso who scored a stunner for the Black Stars against Rwanda in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier on Saturday has revealed that the encounter was difficult.

Both teams were almost headed for a draw when Wakaso scored from a free kick in the 87th minute. The poor state of the pitch at Amahoro Stadium also made it more difficult for the Black Stars to string passes together and technically execute their game plan.

According to myghanaonline.com after the match, Wakaso told the media that, "It was a difficult game and we were also determined to win the game and actually we got the win. So I will use this opportunity to thank my colleagues and the almighty God because it was not easy. But we are still looking ahead to make it bigger and bigger.”

Wakaso has been one of the most consistent players in the Black Stars and he said, "Anytime I get the opportunity, I try to make good use of it.

What I’m doing is part of me, I’m a hard worker and I always want to see my side win.” The next qualifier will be played on March 25, 2016 when Rwanda travel to Mauritius while Ghana will host Mozambique.
