Re: "Kwita-Izina excites Musanze” (The New Times, September 5).
It is wonderful to see all eyes on Musanze as Kwita Izina excites not just Musanze, but the world.
Yes, this tourism industry flagship ceremony has evinced keen interest among people from all walks of life and from all corners of the world. It is commendable to see the great strides being made to conserve the endangered mountain gorillas, which faced extinction a few years ago.
Sometime in the recent past, your newspaper reported how the dynamic Harriet Ingabire, co-founder of Red Rocks, left a lucrative career in the United States of America to come back to this beautiful land of a thousand hills to rebuild this great country.
Such initiatives go a long way in boosting the morale of the local people. "Crazy Night of the Gorillas” hosted by Red Rocks last week, is one such glowing example of nation building and needs to be commended.
Tourism, today, is the highest foreign exchange earner for the country. Just as Musanze has been put on the world map with Kwita Izina, it is my firm belief that Kibeho, with the right infrastructural development, could well also be on top of the mind recall, when it comes to religious tourism, just as Lourdes in France or Fatima in Portugal.
Kwita Izina has really set the pace to make "Remarkable Rwanda” an attractive MICE destination and with such a great head start, this beautiful country could see many millions smiling!
