Rwanda men’s volleyball team has continued a poor run at the ongoing All Africa Games in Brazzaville, the Republic of Congo after losing their second Pool B match against Ghana 3-1 on Sunday.

Ghana won the first two sets 25-20 and 29-27 but Rwanda fought back to win third set 25-22 before the west African team clinched the fourth set 25-27.

The Ghanaians had perfect defense, blocks and receptions than their Rwandan counterparts and in volleyball if you have those three key elements, you stand higher chances of winning matches. After losing the first match against Algeria 3-0 on Thursday and second game against Ghana, Rwanda’s chances of reaching the knockout stage are minimal.

Paul Bitok’s team will play their third game on Tuesday against Seychelles and will wind up their group stage campaign against the defending champions Cameroon on Thursday.

In other matches, Egypt beat Botswana 3-0 (25-14, 25-20, and 38-36). Hosts Congo, backed by a full house, beat Nigeria 3-1 (25-20, 29-27, 19-25 and 25-23) for their first win.

In women category, Seychelles battled for 2 hours to clinch a 3-1 (25-16, 25-21, 21-25 and 25-23) victory over Botswana, while Egypt overcame Congo 3-0 (25-9, 25-6 and 25-6). Senegal notched the first win with a 3-1 victory over Ghana (25-16, 18-25, 25-21 and 25-23).

Meanwhile, Rwanda’s two fencing players are out of competition after failed to impress in first round while the Beach Volleyball and Karate teams will start their competition on Tuesday.
