Jean Paul Muhawenayo scored 14 goals as reigning national handball league champions Police defeated GS Inyemeramihigo 49-24 on Saturday in Ruvabu district to edge closer to retaining their title.
Following the win, Police with 48 points from 20 matches, moved 12 points clear of second-placed APR, who have however, played four games less, ES Kigoma remain on third position with 33 points while Inyemeramihigo sit fourth with 25 points. On Sunday, Inyemeramihigo were supposed to host Nyamirambo-based Nyakabanda but the fixture was postponed to an unknown date.
