The vice president for Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Hiroshi Kato on Wednesday arrived in Rwanda for a three-day working visit.

Kato, whose visit coincides with ten years since JICA re-opened its operations in Rwanda after the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, will meet different government officials and tour projects that are funded by the agency.

According to a statement from JICA country office, he will meet and hold talks with the ministers for Foreign Affairs, and Finance and Economic Planning.

"Apart from the courtesy calls to those Rwandan high officials, Mr Kato will visit various projects supported by JICA as well as Gisozi Genocide Memorial to pay tribute to the victims of the 1994 Genocide,” reads part of the statement.

Among the projects he will visit is the recently inaugurated bridge and one stop border post at Rusumo – between Rwanda and Tanzania.

He will tour JICA-backed agriculture projects and Tumba College of Technology that’s based in Rulindo District, among others.
