Sunrise FC will face Police in the final of this year’s Agaciro Development Fund Cup on Sunday after edging Rayon Sports in penalty shootouts in a semi-final match played at Amahoro stadium.

Following a goalless score after 90 minutes of normal time, Jimmy Mulisa’s Sunrise converted two penalties through Fiston Munezero and Syprien Sinamenya while Jean Claude Rulisa and Francois Hakizimana missed theirs.

For Rayon Sports, new signing Djuma Radju Niyonkuru, Kevin Ishimwe, Pierrot Kwizera and Vivien Niyonkuru all missed theirs—Sunrise Ugandan goalkeeper Robert Saka saved from Ishimwe and Kwizera, while the two Niyonkurus shot wide.

In normal play, Rwamagana-based Sunrise dominated the game with the likes of Mike Segawa, new signing Ali Musa Sova and Janvier Bunani coming close to scoring, only to be denied by experienced goalkeeper Eric Ndayishimiye.

Rayon Sports, under interim coach Sosthene Habimana, had their own chances too through Kwizera, Ishimwe, Irambona and new signing Fabrice Kasereka.

On Saturday, Andre Casa Mbungo’s Police FC reached the final after beating Musanze 2-1 at Kicukiro Stadium thanks to a brace by new signing Isaie Songa. Didier Nkurunziza scored Musanze’s consolation.
