National Football League side Mukura Victory Sports have agreed to pay their former coach Jean Baptiste Kayiranga Rwf7m, according to the club vice president Abraham Nayandi.

In April, Rwanda Football Association (FERWAFA) ordered Mukura to pay Kayiranga Rwf12m for unlawful dismissal but following negotiations between the two parties (Kayiranga and Mukura); the former agreed to be paid Rwf7m instead of Rwf12m.

Nayandi said, "After losing the case, we agreed to pay Kayiranga Rwf7 million.”

Kayiranga also confirmed to this paper that he agreed to a payment of him Rwf7m instead of Rwf12m in compensation, "We sat down like brothers and discussed how we can resolve this problem, now everything is clear.”

Kayiranga was fired on November 5 last year after a string of poor results, which the Southern Province club blamed on the former Rayon Sports and Amavubi midfielder. At the time of his sacking, Mukura was bottom of the league table with just 2 points.

The former Amavubi coach joined Mukura in June last year on a one-year contract but was dismissed after four months later with the club accusing him of not only underperforming but also "causing disharmony between the club administration and players.”

Kayiranga, not happy with the manner of his dismissal, took the matter FERWAFA’s disciplinary committee, which after looking into the matter, concluded that Kayiranga’s contract should be paid in full including damages.

Kayiranga was earning Rwf1.2m per month, but had only been paid 3 months of salary.

Kayiranga, who has previously coached Gicumbi and Kiyovu, is one of the most experienced coaches in the country and he was hired by Rayon Sports who he guided to final of Peace Cup but his team lost to Police 1-0.

After the Huye-based Mukura sacked Kayiranga, they brought back former coach Godfrey Okoko, who managed to lead the club to finish on tenth position in the league with 29 points.
