Twenty-year Kasirye is formerly with Ugandan Super League side Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) and has been training with the Nyanza-based team for the last two weeks—he featured in Rayon Sports’ Agaciro Development Fund Cup game against Amagaju FC, scoring the opening goal in their 2-0 win.
In an interview with Saturday Sport, Gakwaya revealed that the player has signed a three-year contract after proving to the club coaching staff that he can lead the team’s striking force next season.
"He is a good striker, very talented and still young that why we have given him a three-year contract,” said Gakwaya.
Gakwaya also revealed that they are in advanced talks with SC Kiyovu captain Djuma Radjou Niyonkuru, while three Nigerians are currently on trials. They include’ Augustine Onyeka, Irehe Emeka, Oryi Emeka.
After losing so may senior first team players, Rayon Sports, who finished fifth in the league last season, have been quite busy with the transfer market recruiting several players, among them, central defender Thierry Manzi from Marine FC, forwards Kevin Muhire and Savio Nshuti from Isonga FC and Cedric Mugenzi from Gicumbi.
The other new signings include; Right-back Alexis Ndacyayisenga and left-back Jean D’amour Nzayisenga as well as upcoming goalkeeping sensation Bonheur Hategekimana from relegated Isonga FC.
