Former Amavubi player Hamad 'Katauti’ Ndikumana has completed a shock move to Tanzanian Premier League side Stand United after penning a one-year deal on Friday.
The Shinyanga-based Stand United was founded in 2012 and last season, they finished on tenth position with 31 points.
Ndikumana has been without a club since his move to local league side Espoir FC fell through at the start of last season following FERWAFA’s decision to strip all naturalized players of their assumed Rwandan nationality.
According to Tanzanian newspaper, Citizen, Ndikumana will replace Abaslim Chidiebele, who moved to Coastal Union of Tanga and the team needed a player with experience to bridging the gap.
The 35-year old Ndikumana was born Burundi and has played for several clubs including Rayon Sports, Espoir, Vital’O, KV Turnhout, RSC Anderlecht, Anorthosis, KV Mechelen, APOP Kinyras Peyias, Nea Salamina, KAA Gent, Temuri Ketsbaia, Anorthosis, AC Omonia, AEL Limassol and APOP Kinyras Peyias FC.
He was an integral member of the Amavubi Stars team that qualified for the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia for the first time ever, and was regarded by many as Rwanda's best player at the tournament.
He earned 51 international caps following his Amavubi debut in 1998 until his retirement in 2010.
