Isonga FC and Espoir have pulled out of this year’s Agaciro Development Fund tournament scheduled to be held across the country from August 15-30.
The tournament will attract 14 teams including Mukura, Rayon Sport, Amagaju, Marines, Musanze, Gicumbi, Etincelles, Police, Bugesera, APR, AS Kigali, Rwamagana, Kiyovu and Sunrise.
According to the Rwanda Football Association Secretary General, Jean Olivier Mulindahabi, Isonga voluntarily opted out because they don’t have players while Espoir have not started their pre-season training.
"This tournament is aimed at collecting money to contribute to the Agaciro Development Fund and as footballers we have to support these national initiatives, we expect people to come in big numbers to watch the games,” noted Mulindahabi.
Amagaju, which was supposed to play against Espoir, now get a bye into the next round where they will face the winner between Mukura and holders Rayon Sports, while Police which was supposed to meet Isonga, now waits to face the winner of the game between Bugesera and APR.
However, APR, which has not yet started pre-season training is also likely to withdraw, leaving Bugesera to face Police.
