Rwandan neurosurgeon, Dr. David Hakizimana, was recognized as the best student and performer at the 2023 Global Taekwondo Master Training Programme.

Held at the World Taekwondo Federation headquarters in South Korea, the training programme brought together Taekwondo masters from different countries around the world. They delved into various aspects of the game, including Kyorugi (fighting) and Poomsae (showcasing techniques).

With his unwavering commitment to self-improvement, Hakizimana who is the President of the Rwandan Taekwondo Federation (RTF), honed his skills and gained invaluable insights to share with taekwondo enthusiasts worldwide.

Speaking to Times Sport, Hakizimana emphasized the importance of studying and understanding the game.

He said: "Anyone who wants to continue playing has to study first. I now have two more trainings left.

"It is a course where we learned everything necessary in Taekwondo, including the teaching of the mentality and concept of the game. Now I can teach Taekwondo anywhere in the world."

As a proud representative of Rwanda, Hakizimana expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to train and excel on an international platform.

He believes in the power of sharing knowledge and intends to teach taekwondo anywhere in the world, spreading the passion and expertise he acquired during this transformative experience.

"I was lucky to be presented with a certificate by the World Taekwondo CEO, Choi Young Ryul, himself. I am proud of Rwanda where I trained for the first time and did well. What I have been given, I must share with others."
