Cassa Mbungo eyes Agaciro Development Fund title

Reigning Peace Cup winners Police FC head coach Andre Cassa Mbungo is targeting to win the inaugural Agaciro Development Fund Tournament that is scheduled to be held across the country from August 15-30.

Reigning Peace Cup winners Police FC head coach Andre Cassa Mbungo is targeting to win the inaugural Agaciro Development Fund Tournament that is scheduled to be held across the country from August 15-30.

Mbungo said, "Our target is to win this tournament. We are going to give our best for the whole tournament and we know it is a good time for us to prepare our teams ahead of the next season.”

The tournament will work as a pre-season tournament ahead of the next season which will run from September 18.

"It is an important tournament for Police because we know the meaning of Agaciro so we will go there with the purpose of giving Agaciro credit. We will go for a win,” he added.

Police will face Isonga for the East of Kigali City Region in Pool A at FERWAFA Ground while in the same group Bugesera will meet APR at Bugesera ground.

AS Kigali head coach, Eric Nshimiyimana will go for nothing else as he aims to win the first game against Rwamagana in the East of Kigali City Region.

He said, "This is a good tournament for us as we are preparing for next season. It will help to assess the level of players before the league starts.”

The tournament has attracted 16 teams which will play in three respective regions namely; South & West Region, West and North Region, East & Kigali City Region which will be comprised of two groups.

The teams that will compete in the tournament include; Mukura, Rayon Sport , Espoir, Amagaju, Marines, Musanze, Gicumbi, Etincelles, Isonga, Police, Bugesera, APR, AS Kigali, Rwamagana, Kiyovu and Sunrise.

The tournament will be played on a regional level with the winners proceeding to meet in the semi-final round.

The preliminary round, which is the first phase of this tournament, kicks off on August 15 with first leg matches while the second leg will be played on August 17.

The second phase, which is the quarter final round will be played on August 19 with first leg matches while the second leg will be staged two days later on August 21.

The winners will proceed to the semi-final round scheduled to be played on August 23. There are no return leg matches in the semi-final round.

The final and third position playoff will be played on August 30 at Amahoro stadium.
