Usually during holidays, I spend most of the time either sleeping or watching movies. To be honest, I don’t think it’s a productive way to spend my entire holiday. How can I spend my time   more fruitfully?

There are plenty of things you can do to make the holiday not only enjoyable, but productive. As a student, your emphasis should be on activities that will help you excel in your academics. Create a timetable for revision but include reward time, such as watching academic TV programmes, social media and engaging in sports. Get yourself to set aside time to think consciously as well as reading and writing. Any book can help expand your vocabulary and creative writing abilities. The best method of revising is to utilize a variety of materials - notes, textbooks and online resources. This will help reinforce knowledge and fix it in your mind.

Expand your knowledge by investigating something you haven’t previously had time to learn about. This can be anything from learning how to play a guitar or a new language and advancing your computer skills. The more skills you have, the more opportunities you will have in life. Use your free time to pursue your dreams. If, for example, you are interested in music, then try making some new music. If you love writing, go ahead to write an article for public consumption. You can also decorate your room. Choose things that let you express your mind. Visit your grandparents and have a quality time with them. It’s helpful to switch environments for this, perhaps going for a walk or doing some exercise. Hanging out with other people is also helpful. The options are endless.

If you love reading, find an interesting book to read but if you don’t, then use this holiday to learn how to read. Also catch up with friends and attend social functions. You will find it very relaxing.
