Mukura Victory Sports right back Cedric Kubwimana is surprised after being left out of the Amavubi 30-man squad to face Zimbabwe and South Africa, respectively, on November 15 and November 21 in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The enterprising lateral defender has been on fire churning out top-notch performances every week for his side in the 2023/24 Rwanda National Primus League.

In 10 games, Kubwimana has played every minute scoring four goals including a superb late strike against Police FC which earned his club a 1-1 draw at Kigali Pele Stadium on September 3.
Selection of players to the national team is based on output at club level and Kubwimana seemed to have done enough to merit at least a spot in the provisional 30-man squad announced by coach Torsten Frank Spittler.

Comparing statistics, he has performed better than Omborenga Fitina of APR and Ally Serumogo of Rayon Sports who made the 30-man provisional squad for the double header ahead of him.
Not perturbed
"I am a bit shocked I didn&039;t even make the provisional squad. I think I have played well and I deserve a chance in the national team," Kubwimana told Times Sport.
"But I am not perturbed, I just have to keep on working hard. I believe that one day my chance will come."
No one knows the criteria used by the technical team that made Kubwimana fall short of a call-up. In terms of experience, Fitina and Serumogo might be ahead of him as they have been on the national team for at least five years. However, in their current form, they are nowhere near him.
A call-up to the provisional squad for Kubwimana should have been a must, and would have been a big morale boost for him.
