Manchester United fans in Rwanda are planning to organise a football tournament in December in support of youth academy football across the country.

The fan group which is headed by David Mitali met on Umuganura Day (National Harvest Day) at Caiman restaurant in Kibagabaga to jointly set feasible plans aimed at giving back to society from fans of the most successful English football club.

Red Army secretary general Denise Umulisa told Sunday Sport that, "We are honoured to have gathered such a large number of football lovers, precisely Manchester United. To some of us here, the club means a lot. Through victory and hard times, we stick with the club.”

Umulisa explained that, "We want to pool our resources to undertake corporate social responsibility activities aimed at promoting social cohesion through fostering sports.

"We are planning to hold an annual youth football competition to nurture new talent that will represent Rwanda and hopefully make it to the best club in the world – Manchester United.”

The Manchester United fans Rwandan chapter agreed to raise funds to have a football competition for children between the age of 10-15 years in several academies in Rwanda.

The best players will be awarded with prizes, scholarships and other essential facilities to promote their talents.
