Rwanda Football Association (FERWAFA) has postponed indefinitely the national football team’s training camp which was expected to be held in Scotland this month.

According to a statement from FERWAFA, the reason to reschedule the training camp is due to the delayed visa acquisition process which has affected the general planning of "this valuable training camp.”

"All parties involved in the preparation of this training camp have reached an agreement to find another suitable date before the end of this year,” reads the statement in part.

"The process and procedures were not easy and we want to prepare the team so we have decided to maintain our preparations because we need to be ready for the Ghana’s game, we have also decided to play warm-up games so that our players are well prepared for the competition.”

It adds, "Visas were not coming on time and we were not sure if by Monday the team would travel so we have decided to cancel the trip until further notice.”

The Johnny McKinstry’s side will continue its preparations for the 2017 Africa Nations Cup qualifier against Ghana scheduled to be held in Kigali on September 5 as planned.

As part of the preparations, Rwanda will play away to DR Congo in an international friendly match on August 29 in Kinshasa before hosting Ghana in a Group H qualifying match.

On September 12, Rwanda CHAN team composed of domestic league players will play against Gabon in Kigali as a build-up game for the continental championship which will be held in Kigali from January 18 to February 7, 2016.

Amavubi was initially scheduled to head to Scotland on August 2, 2015 but the departure date will now be determined after securing Visas for the national team from the UK Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa.
