Rwanda national volleyball league side Institute of Agriculture and Technology of Kibungo (INATEK) are keen on winning this year’s NSSF/ KAVC Memorial tournament that starts today through Sunday at Lugogo indoor stadium in Kampala, Uganda.
The 2013 champions left the country for Uganda on Friday morning with the target of returning home with the trophy, according to head coach Dominique Ntawangundi.
"We are on a mission to win the tournament, which we last won in 2013. All my players are fit and we want to use this tournament as part of preparations for the ongoing playoffs games in the national league,” Ntawangundi said on Friday before the team’s departure.
Others teams from Rwanda taking part in the 19th annual KAVC Memorial International tournament, are Kirehe volleyball club (men) and defending women’s league champions, Rwanda Revenue Authority (RRA).
Kirehe VC, who are coached by Jean Casius Isibo and holders RRA, under technician Christophe Mudahinyuka left for Kampala by road on Thursday evening.
Last year, RRA beat Uganda’s Vision Volleyball Club in three sets (25-23, 25-15, 25–22) to lift the trophy, while INATEK lost the men’s final in four sets (3-1) to Sky Volleyball Club of Uganda.
