Rwandan-Swiss born striker Quentin Rushenguziminega scored a ten-minute second half hat trick for Swiss outfit Lausanne-Sport to hand his side a 3-2 victory against FC Sion in a pre-season friendly at the weekend in La Sarraz.
With his team trailing 2-0 at half time thanks to goals from Pedro Ramírez and Ebenezer Assifuah, Rushenguziminega found the back of the net in the 76th minute before adding his second goal two minutes later and then a third in the 86th minute.
Lausanne-Sport‘s win over FC Sion follows victory over Echallens (5-2) and a defeat against Young Boys (2-1).
Rushenguziminega, 23, is one of Rwanda’s foreign-based players who will be part of the Jonathan McKinstry’s Amavubi side that will take on Ghana in the second Group H match of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier next month.
Born in Switzerland to Rwandan parents, Rushenguziminega recently signed for Lausanne Sport in the Swiss second division league from FC Echallens where he had scored 23 goals in 21 matches.
FC Echallens currently plays in Liga 1, the fourth tier of the Swiss football pyramid.
In the AfCon qualifiers, Rwanda are in second place in Group H with three points, level with table leaders Ghana but the Black Stars have a better goal difference having hammered Mauritius 7-1 in the opening qualifier while Amavubi won 1-0 away to Mozambique.
