Rwanda’s international assistant referee Zephanie Niyonkuru is currently attending a ‘Young Talent Referees’ course that’s being conducted by the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) in Cairo, Egypt.
It started on August 3 and will run until August 9.
Niyonkuru is among 30 referees and assistant referees drawn from across the continent that are attending the course.
Speaking to Times Sport , yesterday, the head of referees committee at the Rwanda Football Association (FERWAFA) Aaron Rurangirwa noted that the 27-year-old was selected by CAF to attend the course because of his competence and age.
"CAF picked him because he is young and boasts of international experience,” said Rurangirwa.
The course is designed to provide referees and assistant referees aged below 30, with the knowledge and skills needed for effective control of games at the high level
