Ecole Secondaire Kigoma will host Police at Kigoma ground in what could be one of the title deciding handball games, today.
However, with fatigue from the interschool’s tournament, ES Kigoma will need more than just confidence to march past Police. In an interview with the Saturday Sport, ES Kigoma head Coach Sylvestre Mudaharishema disclosed that his squad is in poor shape ahead of today’s encounter due to fatigue of his players who have been involved in the inter-schools tournament.
"We are not ready enough for the game and besides we are missing some important players like Alexis Nshimiyimana who is the league’s top scorer with 112 goals due to family issues,” said Mudaharishema.
He added that he had requested for a possible postponement of the game but the handball federation disregarded his request.
Meanwhile, Police head Coach Antoine Ntibanganya revealed that they expect a tough game despite being favourites because Kigoma is also among the title contenders now. ES Kigoma 28 points are third on the league table with one game in hand while Police lead with 36 points.
Also today second-placed APR with 33 points will play 5th placed Ecole Secondaire Inyeramihigo at Rubavu Stella Marris ground as they seek to maintain pressure on table leaders Police who are just 3 points above them.
Tomorrow, Groupe Scolaire saint Aloys 4th placed with 25 points will host 8th placed Nyakabanda at Rwamagana ground.
