Mukura Victory Sport distracted further Rayon Sports’ early title ambitions with a spirited 1-1 draw in a match played at Huye stadium yesterday on a day when big guns APR and Atraco maintained their winning start to the new season.

Rayon took the lead on the 43rd minute through Albert Ngabo after a series of hard work, however, that joy lasted 20 minutes when Congolese import Freddy Bawule netted a penalty to equalizer for the hosts.

At Shyorongi, ex-Rayon striker Jean Lomami netted his second brace of the season as Atraco maintained their impressive start to the new season with a commanding 2-0 win over early strugglers Kiyovu.

The brace took his tall to four goals in two matches, following his brace in the league opener against La Jeunesse last weekend.

Nine-time champions, APR made it two wins out of two with a hard fought 1-0 win over a spirited AS Kigali at Mironko grounds.

New signing Jean Claude Iranzi was the hero for the military side with a spectacular sole effort midway through the first half.

"I am delighted that my players managed to stop Rayon Sports big players from scoring. I briefed my defenders about that they strikers paused. 

"Jimmy Gatete is a player with a sharp foot in front of the goal but it’s important that my defenders managed to keep him out of the game,” noted Mukura new coach Ali Bizimana, who was handling his first game after replacing Bernard Ndiki, who was sacked one game into the season.
