Kigali, November 6, 2023 – Equity Bank Rwanda joined residents of Bugesera District in planting over 3,500 trees as part of Equity’s initiative to plant 35 million trees, contributing to environmental conservation.
During the ceremony, Hannington Namara, the Managing Director of Equity Bank Rwanda, expressed Equity Group's unwavering commitment to investing in and executing various sustainability initiatives, including tree planting, aimed at improving community livelihoods and preserving the environment.
Dr. Claudine Uwera, the State Minister for the Environment, emphasized the importance of partnerships between the government and the private sector and commended Equity bank’s efforts in driving environmental conservation and promoting sustainable development.
Richard Mutabazi, the Mayor of Bugesera District, extended gratitude to Equity for selecting their district as the location for the tree planting activity. He also pledged to collaborate with the residents to ensure the growth and protection of the newly planted trees.
This marks the second time Equity Bank Rwanda has conducted such an initiative, following last year's tree planting activity in Masaka sector. Equity also has ongoing initiatives in the energy and environment sector, further contributing to environmental conservation.
