Amavubi draw Libya in 2018 World Cup qualifiers

The National men’s national football team will face Libya over two legs in November in the second round of qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup that will be hosted by Russia.

The National men’s national football team will face Libya over two legs in November in the second round of qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup that will be hosted by Russia.

The draws that were made yesterday at the Konstantinovsky Palace in Strelna, Saint Petersburg, in Russia were based on the July 2015 FIFA rankings.

Rwanda which is ranked 20th on the African continent is among the top 27 teams that were given a bye to the second round where they will face the 13 winners from the first round which will pit teams ranked 28-53.

Zimbabwe and Indonesia were expelled from the qualification process with the former revealing their decision to appeal to FIFA.

Meanwhile, Amavubi head coach Johnny McKinstry has named an 18-man squad to face the South Africa U23s on July 28 in Johannesburg.
