All roads lead to Amahoro National stadium this weekend as concertgoers flock the venue for the KigaliUp music festival. The two-day event will be graced by music stars Sauti Sol from Kenya and BET award-winner Eddy Kenzo from Uganda.
Other music stars expected include, Joseph Torobeka from Burundi, Nicolenstia Bateau from Haiti and Rwandan Diaspora musicians Brooklyn Jay Bon D and Iyadede, among others.
The festival, now in its 5th year, provides a platform for young and upcoming artistes to showcase their talents and to share the stage with some of the continent’s music stars.
Jay Polly, who has participated in the festival since the first edition, said upcoming artistes should use the festival as a platform to grow.
He said: "Upcoming artistes should not be frightened to perform on the same stage with superstars, being confident and hardworking could be the key to a successful career.”
The director of KigaliUp music festival, Jacques Murigande, aka Mighty Popo, stressed the importance of KigaliUp music festival in boosting the image of Rwanda as a tourism destination. KigaliUp promotes original music - traditional and modern alike - from independent artistes throughout Africa and the African Diaspora.
The performances start at 1p.m.
