National tennis team has started preparations at the Amahoro stadium tennis grounds ahead of the All Africa Games scheduled for September 4-19 in Congo Brazzaville.

In an interview with Times Sport, the national team head coach Eric Remo Bimenyimana disclosed that the team this week started daily training sessions in the morning and all players set to participate in the tournament have all reported for the training.

"We are doing morning trainings daily and so far it is going on well with much change for the better,” said coach Bimenyimana.

Rwanda’s number one Dieudonne Habiyambere revealed that they are now working as a team and their priority target is to put on a good fight and win medals at the tournament.

A team of four players, two men and two women including the 32-year-old Habiyambere, Olivier Havugimana ranked second aged 22 will represent Rwanda.

In the women’s category, It is 27-year-old Rwandan number one Megan Ingabire and Gisele Umumararungu aged 20 and ranked second.

Later Rwanda will participate in the U-18 Commonwealth Youth Games tennis tournament from September 5 -11 in Samoa islands according to Valens Habimana, secretary General Rwanda Tennis federation. The16-year old Ernest Habiyambere and Fabrice Tuyishime who is 15 years old will represent Rwanda.

Habimana further added that this year, the federation will not host the ITF Men’s Future and Circuit tournaments due to lack of sponsors but revealed that they are organizing to resume the Rwandan Open by the end of this year and preparations are in progress.
