Sunrise FC has vowed to maintain their presence in the National Football League following an impressive finish in the just concluded 2014/2015 season.

The Rwamagana-based side was promoted to the topflight division last year but was convincingly phenomenal after completing the season in fourth position with 40 points in 26 games played with 10 wins, 10 draws and six losses.

In an interview with Times Sport, Sunrise head coach Thierry Nzungu revealed that the team is poised to maintain their form in the forthcoming season and are set to challenge for the top four finish again in the new season.

"Our target is to maintain the top four finish as we did last season because we have the competence to do that,” said Nzungu.

Asked about possible new arrivals to strengthen the squad, Nzungu explained that the club does not expect to sign more than one player-precisely a striker saying that the squad currently has capable, young Rwandan players who still have long term contracts with the club and therefore are enough to build a strong team.

Nzungu revealed that they expect striker Wayi Leka to report to the club along the other players having not shown up since he was signed last year.

Leka, who had scored 15 goals the season before he signed a two-year contract last season with Sunrise from Musanze FC on a six million francs deal a year but never reported to the club. He instead went to Democratic Republic of Congo for personal business the whole season according to the club.

He is expected to report for training on July 27.

Sunrise FC players are expected to report from their seasonal break on July 27 to commence their pre-season training the following day.
