Ruhango woman scoops Airtel’s 'Because of Her' Award

Mary Goreth Mumararungu, a resident Ruhango District, in the Southern Province, is this year’s winner for Airtel’s ‘Because of Her’ Award for promoting initiatives that encourage women to improve their livelihoods.

Mary Goreth Mumararungu, a resident Ruhango District, in the Southern Province, is this year’s winner for Airtel’s ‘Because of Her’ Award for promoting initiatives that encourage women to improve their livelihoods.

The award celebrates and rewards women change-makers, who contribute to the development of their communities. Mumararungu won 30 goats, some of which she distributed among the families and women in Gisali. Mumararungu  and Gasana Edna Darlene were chosen through an online drive by Airtel as part of the firm’s International Women’s Day activities. The campaign seeks to celebrate and reward women change-makers in the society.

Airtel Rwanda managing director, Teddy Bhullar, said firm supports sustainable initiatives by women that help transform society. "We celebrate women’s achievements and pay tribute to the indomitable spirit of women,” he said.
