Editor,

Reference is made to the article, "Rwanda’s strength lies in its youth - Gen Kabarebe” (The New Times, July 19).

As the Minister for Defence, James Kabarebe, has very rightly remarked, "the will power of youth determines the kind of future a nation will have”.

Please allow me to share with your readers that the forthcoming "Rwanda Calling 2015”, which will be held at the Kigali Serena Hotel on Monday, July 27, will see the Mahatma Gandhi University award ten full scholarships for graduate level study to Rwandan youths, so as to equip them with a good education and empower them to aim for greater things.

Further, the SevenHills Hospital will announce at the same event their "Skill Development” programme wherein they will train at their world class, award-winning facility in Mumbai, as many as forty eight nurses from different hospitals in Rwanda.

The Indian Merchants’ Chamber, which this year has chosen as its theme "Job Creation through Skill Development” will, through its member organisations, provide an internship to two outstanding students from Rwanda.

All this is aimed at strengthening and empowering the youth of this great nation in their quest for excellence.
