The National Taekwondo team has kicked off preparations ahead of the third edition of the Ambassador’s Cup scheduled for August 28-29 at Amahoro indoor stadium, Remera.
According to the national team head coach Alain Irene Bagire, the team on Monday started daily training sessions once a day at Amahoro stadium.
"This competition will give us a real image of what to concentrate on as we organize for this year’s All Africa Games,” said Bagire in an interview on Tuesday. He added that the team will go into the two-day tournament with the ambition of winning it for the third time in a row since it was launched in 2013.
This year’s edition is expected to attract teams from seven countries including; Kenya, Uganda, Burundi, Tanzania, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia and hosts Rwanda.
The Ambassador’s Cup is organized and sponsored by the Korean Embassy in Rwanda with the view of broadening the martial art game worldwide.
Rwanda is preparing to participate in the All African Games scheduled to take place from September 4-19 in Congo Brazzaville.
