Point guard Rosine Micomyiza scored a game high 24 points to help Rwanda Energy Group (REG) women beat Burundian Gladiators 83-73 on Thursday night to reach the semi-finals of the FIBA Zone V women’s championship.

Micomyiza rose to the occasion and became Gladiators’ nightmare on the night as her scoring heroics, coupled with impressive displays from Betty Kalanga and Chelsea Jennings who added 24 and 12 points respectively, were crucial as REG overcame the Burundians to storm to the final four.

Nandy Linda Uwitonze scored 21 points as her team tried to put up a fight and turn the result around but things didn’t go according to plan as the home side sent them packing.

Meanwhile, APR women crashed out of the competition following a shock 58-75 quarterfinal defeat to Uganda’s JKL Lady Dolphins on Thursday.

REG will now square off with Equity Bank of Kenya while Kenya’s KPA will take on Uganda’s JKL Lady Dolphins in both semifinals that will take place Friday, November 3, at Lycée de Kigali Gymnasium.
