MUSANZE — The Institute D’enseignement Superieur de Ruhengeri-INES and the National Agricultural Research Institute-ISAR have signed an agreement where the two parties will enhance students’ research work.
The deal signed this week would allow INES students to carry out fundamental, Bio-technology research and attend to internship at ISAR.
It was signed after the swearing-in ceremony of the new students’ Guild council (AGE INES).
During the ceremony, Eric Tabaro was sworn in as the new guild president, Clementine Uwimbabazi as the vice president, and Ngabonziza Aphrodis as the general secretary of the ten-member guild committee.
According to INES Rector, Dr Deogratias Niyibizi, the memorandum of understanding aims at facilitating students in carrying out research especially science students.
In his speech, the newly-elected guild president said that he would encourage the use of international languages like French, English and Swahiri among students, lead the AIDS campaign and encourage students to involve in government programmes such as community work (Umuganda).
He asked the institute’s authorities to speed up the building of the students’ hostels to accommodate students.
Bishop Kizito Bahujimigo of Kibungo Dioceses, who was the chief guest asked the students to use their university knowledge to make new initiatives in all aspects of life instead of duplicating what has been done else where.
The bishop is also the former rector of the institute.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the guild councils from over five universities in Rwanda, the provincial executive secretary, Deo Kabagambe and the Miss ISAE-Busogo Fridah Ingabire.
