It was one of the biggest crowds since Primus GumaGuma Super Star Season 5 began as the second live roadshow took place on Saturday at Tapis Rouge in Nyamirambo.

Hundreds of people turned up to cheer their favourite stars as the competition enters the tough stage, with all the 10 contestants doing their best to woo the crowds and the judges.

Dust rose up during the show.

The show kicked off at around 4:30pm with MC Tino singlehandedly captivating the crowd as his co-host Anita Pendo was missing in action. It was an evening of fun as show goers had an opportunity to hit the big stage and try to impress the crowd before walking away with goodies from Primus.

At about 6:30pm when the band was expected to go on stage, lights went out for some minutes as technicians fidgeted  to find out what the problem was. However, DJ Bissosso continued to entertain the crowd as hundreds of spectators lit the venue with their mobile phone flashlights.

TNP

Soon, however, the lights came back on and the band came on stage, and after warming up the crowd, the first act, TNP, hit the stage performing their songs Ese Uri hano andurukundondarufite.

The Nyamirambo-born duo of Tracy and Passy hit the stage with a group of dancers and received a warm reception before they left the stage for Knowless.

Knowless Butera

Flanked by dancers with spinning umbrellas, Knowless upped the tempo with a performance of Warurihe and Baramushaka. Members of Knowless fans club were present all through to cheer her on as she tried to prove to the judges that she has what it takes.

However, if Knowless’s performance and the subsequent crowd reaction were satisfying, Bruce Melodie was up to take it a notch higher. The Ndakwanga singer as usual came on with no back up dancers but trusting his vocals to do the magic.

Bruce Melodie

Bruce Melodie kicked off his performance with Ntundize before he introduced the back-up band and run through his songs including Telephone, Tubuvemo, Hello and Incwi. The singer, who is among the strong contenders, reminded the residents of Nyamirambo that he was born and raised there.

Senderi International Hit

Next  came Eric Senderi known as international hit. The man of stunts came on with his entourage of acrobatic dancers but despite doing his best, the Jalousie singer could not woo the Nyamirambo to his side.

He performed Nta Cash and Twaribohoye before relinquishing the stage for lady rapper Paccy who came on to perform her songs MfiteUbwoba and Umusirimu. Paccy also proved to have fans in Nyamirambo.

Paccy

After Paccy, it was time for some jumping as the King of Coga, Rafiki came on stage with his backup act to exhibit high levels of energy. The Bagambe singer showed that despite being an old time, he still got what it takes. He performed Bwongoza faux and Gikomando as he took selfies with fans.

Rafiki

Rafiki gave way for Dream Boys who delighted the crowd with spectacular dance moves as they performed Uzahaheuronke and Tujyaneiwacu. The boys again proved that they are in to win it as they put up a spirited performance.

Dream Boys

Dream Boys were followed by Active who came on stage dressed like Samurai ninjas, complete with swords and face masks. The trio sung their songs Active Love and Lift before mesmerizing the crowd with their dance moves.

Bull Dogg

Next up was Bulldog, who by far received the biggest support from the crowd. The rapper, with the help of his trusted side kick Khalifan, went straight into business, performing Cinema and Nyir’ingoma to the delight of the crowd. As his fans stomped, a cloud of dust hovered over crowd.

"We are among those expected to win. Isn’t it?” the rapper asked the delighted crowd.

Jules Sentore

Finally Jules Sentore had the hardest task to close the show at around 9pm as the crowd thinned. Nevertheless, the singer managed to woo the majority with a performance of Udatsikira and Banguka with the help of Intore dancers.

"The performances were impressive. At this point it is possible to know the most competitive artistes likely to win the competition. But in my view Bulldog, Bruce Melodie, Knowless and Dream Boys impressed the most,” said Lillian Uwimpuhwe, an ardent music fan.

The fans were impressed by the performances.

As curtains came down on the show, it is now down to three shows to end. The next live shows will take place in Musanze and Rubavu before the finale on August 15 during which the winner will be crowned. The annual music competition is organized by Bralirwa through its premium brand Primus.
