Rumaga, Ruti Joel to perform at Kigali Kulture Konnect concert

Traditional artists including fast rising poet Rumaga Junior, Ruti Joel and Inyamibwa Cultural Band, will be joining forces with Shauku Band for a concert dubbed ‘Kigali Kulture Konnect’, organised by MA Africa.

The debut event is slated for November 24, at the Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village (KCEV).

The primary purpose of this show, according to Rumaga, is to inspire young people to appreciate and embrace their cultural heritage. The concert will feature a diverse lineup of emerging artistes who specialize in traditional music from both Rwanda and beyond,” he said.

Rumaga believes that, "many things that happen in a society are in line with its culture, it's inescapable. It's very dangerous and alarming when individuals no longer embrace their culture, it's even worse than what you can imagine. "I and the team are looking forward to organising it monthly or annually.”

The ‘Mazi ya Nyanja’ poet mentioned that, traditional game ‘Kubuguza’ simply a board game or locally known as ‘Igisoro’, ‘Imikino njya Rugamba - basically local fighting sports resemble renowned sports like Taekwondo, Judo, Kungfu, and Boxing if we can call it, will also be there and among others.

It’s worth noting that, recently Junior Rumaga released his latest poetry album titled ‘Mawe’. The much-anticipated launch of this debut poetic album was launched on August 11, accompanied by Siga Rwanda Live Concert at a similar venue.

AERG Inyamibwa troupe will also make their debut appearance at this event, following a historic celebration show of their 25th anniversary after it was formed. AERG was formed by survivors of the Genocide against the Tutsi in 1994 who were by then, university students at Huye Campus.

Equally, Ruti Joel recently revealed his debut concert, titled ‘Rumata wa Musomandera’, where he will perform songs from his latest album ‘Musomandera’, named after his mother. This concert is set to take place at Intare Arena on December 26.
