Reference is made to the article, "How Liberation Day was marked in the Diaspora” (The New Times, July 7).

The Liberation Day celebration organised by the Rwanda High Commission in New Delhi, India, was simply wonderful and it had a touch of class.

In my capacity as an expert committee member of a premier chamber of commerce and by virtue of my wife being with a foreign mission for almost three decades already, I have attended very many "national days” held by different countries.

However, Rwanda’s Liberation Day this year was, by far, the very best national day among those of various countries in Asia, Europe, America and Africa I attended over for almost three decades.

Organising an event of such a magnitude calls for a great deal of planning, co ordination and an eye for detail.

All this was evident at the Delhi event. The combination of Rwanda’s traditional dances—which this time had many interesting variations—along with Bollywood and Sufi performances, provided the right and perfect mix of entertainment, which was enjoyed by all.

The charming vocalist and her accompanying organist provided a great welcome to all guests as they entered the foyer with a fine combination of modern songs and some old favourites.

The lavish buffet spread, so well laid out by the Eros Hotel, was superb!

What more could one expect from such a great event, which even had a "house full”? Such events will not only showcase Rwandan culture, but also take trade, tourism and investments to even greater heights!
