Gospel music lovers were treated to a thrilling performance by Ambassadors of Christ choir in a concert held at Adventist University of Central Africa (AUCA), in Kigali on Sunday.
The concert dubbed, "Fata Umwana wese Nkuwawe” was graced by hundreds of people. The show featured several Adventist choirs such as Shalom singers, Maranatha Men, Friends of Jesus, Paradise memory and Orion singers, among others.
The concert started at 5p.m and Ambassadors of Christ emerged on the stage at 7p.m; the choir put up outstanding performances and left the crowd asking for more. The choir used the event to launch its 12th DVD and all the tracks on the DVD were performed during the live concert. The mood was exciting as the venue, AUCA’ main auditorium was packed to capacity by 8pm.
Emmile Munyaburanga, one of the attendees, described the event as a "powerful” concert.
"I found very many people stranded at the gate and we were told that the hall was packed and we couldn’t get where to sit or stand—but they finally let us in after pleading with the ushers,” Munyaburanga said.
Moses Kayijuka, who was in charge of the DVD recording and communication, told The New Times, that the concert aimed at bringing together the fans and Ambassadors of Christ. "We’ve been so busy recording the songs for our 12th DVD, and we did most of the shootings out of the country. We decided to organise this concert to show our fans what had kept us busy.”
He added that the theme for the concert was a powerful message to people.
"Long ago a parent would treat another child like their own but things are different today. We therefore wanted to deliver the message reminding people that a child is a gift from God,” he said.
The choir’s latest DVD comprises 12 singles, all in Kinyarwanda apart from one song in Kinyankore.
