Tigo staff, yesterday, visited a cooperative of survivors of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi living in Musanze District, and donated to them three cows.

The survivors are grouped in the Urumuri rw’Ubuzima Family Cooperative, located in Muhoza Sector.

Speaking at the handover, Tigo People Director, Elizabeth Mwangi, said this was part of the company’s commitment to improveing the lives of communities as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility.

"We visit survivors from different districts and, together with the local government, identify and address their most pressing needs,” she said.

Jean Claude Musabyimana, the Musanze Vice Mayor in charge of Economic Development, commended Tigo for their efforts to improve the lives of the vulnerable, especially Genocide survivors.

"We are very glad that Tigo has always displayed commitment to improving lives of people in this country,” he said, encouraging the survivors to keep strong and work hard to develop themselves and the country.

Urumuri rw’Ubuzima Family Cooperative is comprised of 60 members, most of them widows and orphans of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.
