Rayon Sports defeated their rivals APR 3-0 on Saturday night at national Amahoro indoor Stadium to maintain the lead in national volleyball league.
Fidele Nyirimana’s side won a tightly contested first set 25-23, before winning other two sets 25-21 and 25-21.
The win keeps the Nyanza-based team at the top of the table with 38 points heading into the playoffs which start on July 1.
Rayon Sports (38), INATEK (35) APR (30) and Kirehe 22 points will contest in the men’s playoffs.
APR looked weak without their captain, Laurence Yakan Guma who is still injury while Theondore Thiambo Muyango was away. The relied heavily on Yves Mutabazi and Flavien Ndamukunda but their effort wasn’t enough to deny Rayon Sports a second league win over their rivals this season.
Kwizera Marshal, Guillaume Irakarama, Fred Musoni, Nelson Murangwa and Ugandan import Nicholas Dheyongera demoralized APR with strong services, attacks brocks and good receptions to win the game.
