Ex-combatants undergo medical examination

GICUMBI — A team of five doctors from the Ministry of Health has started medical examination of disabled ex-combatants in Gicumbi District.

The exercise that started on Monday is aimed to establish those with a high degree of disability that would benefit from government’s medical treatment.

Conducted at Gicumbi district, the exercise attracted about 340 ex- combatants.

Eugene Rutayombya, the coordinator of Medical Rehabilitation Unit at Rwanda Demobilisation and Reintegration Commission (RDRC), said that those with disability in the range of 30 and 100 percent are the ones eligible for the government medication. 

"This exercise is done countrywide and the medical team shall make final recommendations to government as soon as it is finished,” Rutayombya said.
