Victoria University hosts Tz petroleum and oil students

Uganda's Victoria University, under the Department of Petroleum and Energy Studies, last week, hosted delegates from Tanzania and Uganda at its premises.

Uganda’s Victoria University, under the Department of Petroleum and Energy Studies, last week, hosted delegates from Tanzania and Uganda at its premises.

The department head Dr Drake Kyalimpa said the course was meant to equip participants with skills to manage health, safety and environment efficiently and effectively within the Oil and Gas industry and other non-oil and gas sectors.

The International Certification Course completed was "Managing Safely in the Oil and Gas Industry”.

The course is accredited by the Institute of Occupation Safety and Health (IOSH), on behalf of IOSH.

Global Environmental managers, UK by Africa Centre for Energy and Mineral Policy (ACEMP) coordinated the course.

Course content included health safety and environment regulations, HSE Management systems, risk management and control, accident investigation and reporting/lessons from oil and gas industry accidents, specialised hazards/safe systems of work, environment and waste management and managing in contract environment.
