SC Kiyovu have confirmed that assistant coach Hamisi Bagumaho will stay on as head coach until the end of the season, according to club spokesperson Mudi Byumvuhore.

Byumvuhore told Sunday Sport in a phone interview that the Green Baggies are not in a rush to name a new coach after head coach Ali Bizimungu was sacked last month.

"At the moment we don’t need a new coach because Bagumaho is doing a great job, we will continue to give him support,” Byumvuhore said.

He added "The club management is under no pressure to bring in a new head coach, so we shall continue working with him (Bagumaho) as interim head coach until a decision is taken regarding the situation.”

The Nyamirambo side sacked Bizimungu after the club management accused him of talking about the internal affairs of the club on local radios.

The Mumena-based club finished in ninth position with 32 points, the first time ever that the club has finished in such a low position.

Bagumaho, who is a former Rwandan International will lead the club through this year’s Peace Cup—the team is into the quarter-finals where they face Police FC today at FERWAFA ground.

Bagumaho played for SC Kiyovu for one year in the 1998-1999 season, scoring 24 goals. He also played for Burundian side Inter for one season (1994-1995) where he scored 17 goals, he also played for APR in 2001 to 2004, where he won two league titles, Cecafa Kagame Cup and Peace Cup.

The former national team striker also won the Cecafa Challenge Cup with Rwanda B in 1998. Bagumaho also played for Electogaz before returning to SC Kiyovu in 2014 as assistant coach. He also helped SC Kiyovu to win Primus Cup in 2010 before retiring the same year.

Meanwhile, Kiyovu have extended the contracts of midfielder Abdul Karim Gashugu, defenders Fitina Ombalenga, Mukamba Namasobya and Alex Ngirimana and goalie Alex Bebe Nganza.
