Gisa uruhinja, Mana yanjye, Kazi ni kazi and Care are some of the better-known musical offerings from rapper Ama G The Black.

But who really cares? All that we care and know about Ama G The Black is his hit song- Nyabarongo.

Nyabarongo is a good song and as far as I’m concerned, the best song to listen to while drinking and for some reason, the song sounds even sweeter when one is nursing bottles of Turbo King and Urwagwa.

That is all the news that we had for you about Ama G The Black. No that’s a lie. Lie because there is still one lingering question for which the entire Rwandan music fraternity deserves an urgent answer from the rapper:

Is he actually Ama G The Black as we know him, or is he Ama G The Brak like he always pronounces it in his elaborate song intros?

Still with rappers, just how well do you know Jay Polly? Do you know the connection between him and the Ivuka Arts Center in Kacyiru? Do you know why he has immense respect for the dreadlocked visual artists that call Ivuka home?

Well, did you know that Jay Polly’s very first song was a collabo with an Ivuka artist? Did you also know that I won’t divulge the identity of said Ivuka artist here?

Why should we allow Jay Polly and Ivuka to hoard all the space to themselves, when there are other rappers to deal with?

Rappers like Diplomate. The mention of this rapper’s name instantly reminds you of the fact that everybody has a side hustle away from their known source of livelihood.

For Diplomate, when the going gets a little tough and gigs from promoters of igitaramo are not forthcoming, he switches to side-hustle mode: yes, he goes off to do what else he does best, besides delivering rhymes.

And so musical is Diplomate’s voice, he only needs to utter one word and then sit back and relax, waiting to smile all the way to the bank.

That word is "yegob.com”. That’s right: Yego b dot. com

But what is talk about musicians if it does not involve the very people that make them stars –the music producers? So how well do you know our local beat makers? How well do you know producer Lick Lick of Lick Lick Productions, for one?

I won’t believe that talk that he is the best music producer in KGL at the moment, because the journo who came up with the fabricated tale did not get to interview me about my own beat-making prowess which would easily relegate Lick Lick to the kid’s league of music production.

That said, all that I know about producer Lick Lick is that he is a guy that loves dogs and puppies. Hence the name that sounds like what dogs and puppies love to do all the time.
