HUYE based University of Rwanda- College of Arts and Social Sciences (UR- CASS) basketball club will be eyeing to shock high-flying Patriots BC in league game today at the campus gymnasium.
Today’s game is the last in the regular season for both sides and while the home team have little to play for, their visitors, Patriots, are seeking to notch a big win to increase their chances of finishing on second position and a good draw in the play-offs.
UR- CASS are eager to impress after going through a horrible 2015 campaign in which they have managed five wins out of 17 games.
In a phone interview with Saturday Sport, UR-CASS head coach Charles Mushumba said his players are in good shape and ready to put up a good fight against Patriots.
"We are facing a strong side and favorites but we are ready, we need to finish the season with a win and we are going to do everything possible to achieve it. Home advantage will be crucial for us,” Mushumba said.
On Sunday, it’s going to be a clash of titans as already crowned champions face archrivals of Cercle Sportif de Kigali (CSK) at KIST courts at 10am. Elsewhere, Rusizi host UR-College of Education (UR-CoE) while IPRC-Kigali and counterparts of IPRC- South lock horns at 12pm also at KIST.
Champions Espoir with 31 points top the table while Patriots, CSK and APR stand second, third and fourth respectively and the four giants have all qualified for the play-offs.
