What is your take on love?
TMC: Love is a great feeling that people all over the world share and feel the same way. Similarly, it hurts equally, much as it makes us so happy, so excited. It gives life a whole new meaning and makes us discover something that we didn’t know existed within us. You know that feeling of losing yourselves into each other and shutting the world outside. You never care as long you’re with that person that matters to you most. It’s a pity that some people abuse it.
Platini: I would say that love is a connection of the heart and soul. A language people use to express their feelings to the other person. It is giving someone the chance to break your heart but trusting them not too.
Do you believe in true love?
TMC: See, people these days don’t believe in true love. But I do believe that it exists. I however condemn those who take this precious gift for granted, those who deny its true value. Those who don’t believe in it have a reason not to because many – especially ladies – ‘fall’ in love for material gains. Nevertheless, I can testify that true love still exists. It’s hidden somewhere and someone must do a thorough search to find it.
Platini: Well, I believe in true love but it’s extremely rare and hard to find. Nowadays, love is commercialized; that’s why most relationships or marriages no longer last. True love exists, but among very few people—really few.
And soul mates. Do you believe in them?
TMC: If you believe in true love, you definitely believe in a soul mate. At one particular moment, each of us long to be with someone to confide in. they may not be lovers per se but at least there’s always that element of longing. I think it’s for that same reason that God created Eva after noticing that Adam was becoming a very lonesome soul.
Platini: Of course I do. Marriage is one of the significant institutions in the Rwandan culture and I’ve to embrace it as a Rwandan. Normally, before people get married, they first search for their soul mates; a person who understands and deeply loves you. And you can only be able to know that after studying each to determine whether this is the person you want to start a family with—that’s what I believe in.
Are you seeing anyone yourself? Are you in love?
TMC: No I’m not. But I believe somehow somewhere, there’s someone waiting for me. If God ever decides that we meet, then we sure will.
Platini: Yes. I have someone I’m seeing and we have been dating for the last three years. We’re trying to learn and discover each more; and if God wishes, we shall start a family together. She is beautiful, hardworking and respectful—I’m trying to convince my heart that she is the one—hopefully she is.
How was your previous GumaGuma show in Rukomo?
TMC: The performance was spectacular. It was one of those shows where you feel connected to the fans. All I say is that we can’t wait to win the (prestigious) award which I feel we deserve. Our fans, too, feel that we should win.
Platini: It was the first time for the Primus Guma Guma roadshow to go to Nyagatare district and the residents were visibly ready and happy. All the 10 contestants put up great performances and the experience was overwhelming. As for Dream Boys, I believe we delivered an excellent stage performance. But generally, we’ve kept the momentum in all the road shows we have had so far. To our fans, we have been in this competition since it started five years ago, and always come in the top—we’re optimistic this time we’re winning
