Uganda set for Kungfu Genocide Memorial Tourney

Rwanda Kungfu Federation (RKF) has invited Uganda to take part in the upcoming Genocide Memorial Tournament scheduled for June 21, RKF president Jackson Mucyo Havugimana, has said.

The tournament dubbed ‘Never Again’ will be held at Amahoro Indoor Stadium and has attracted teams from across the country including Club Kigali Kungfu Wushu, Dragon Wushu, Wush Kungfu Club, Kabuga Wushu, Muhanga tiger club,  Musanze Shaulini Tample,  Musanze Wushu Club,  Ngoma Wushu, Little Masters and Rubavu Wushu.

Kenya has withdrawn from the tournament sponsored by the Ministry of Sports and Culture, Rwanda National Olympic and Sports Committee and the Chinese Embassy.

The event will have two events including combat and demonstration and the winners will receive medals and trophies.

The fifth edition of the annual event was set to turn into an international competition but Mucyo said, "We wrote to the International Kung Fu Federation (IKF) to put it in their calendar because this will help us to have a strong tournament. We will attract other big countries which will help our athletes as we want to develop it at the regional and international level.”

According to Mucyo the event will cost Rwf10m which be used to buy equipment for use during the tournament, transport for the teams, medals and trophies.
