Editor,

This is with reference to the article, "Why Kwita Izina event was moved to September” (The New Times, June 11).

It is of great interest to note that this biggest tourism event in Rwanda has been moved from June to September.

Apart from being compliant with the Northern Corridor tourism events calendar, this year’s Kwita Izina will have the added attraction of "Inka z’u Rwanda”, a conservation forum and a photo exhibition.

As Amb. Yamina Karitanyi, Chief Tourism Officer, Rwanda Development Board, very rightly remarked, having this "high promotion product just before the low season” will ensure an increase in tourist arrivals at the beginning of the season.

Rescheduling this event will also make it possible for the country to invite key Indian tour operators and MICE planners on what would be the first ever familiarization tour for the Indian market.

Statistics have shown that Indian visitors are among the highest spenders in the world. It would be a great idea to have a reasonable presence of Indian tour operators at Kwita Izina 2015.

Certainly, ‘Incredible India’ will enhance substantially the visitor arrivals into ‘Remarkable Rwanda’, given the right stimulus.
