GumaGuma excites Rukomo residents

Residents of Rukomo Sector, Nyagatare district turned up in big numbers for the Primus GumaGuma Super Star season 5(PGGSS5) road show on Saturday.

Residents of Rukomo Sector, Nyagatare district turned up in big numbers for the Primus GumaGuma Super Star season 5(PGGSS5) road show on Saturday.

With a combination of good weather and excitement, the usually quiet town came to life as the road show graced the trading centre for the first time. 

Bruce Melody

Bruce Melodie opened the day’s performances and went on to impress the crowd, as fans joined him to sing his popular hits Ndakwanga, Ntundize and Ndumiwe which have become household hits. 

After Bruce Melodie, Dream Boys followed and as usual they blew the crowd away with their well-known songs, with Platini, the other half of the group, getting into the crowd. The duo performed Mumutashye, Uzahaheuronke and  UrareAharyana.

Paccy

Rapper Oda Paccy was next on stage and wowed with her catchy beats, the fans had to sing along to her songs- Rendezvous, Icyabuze and Umusirimu.

Rafiki

Rafiki followed with his dancehall beats, and Dj Bissosso blended his songs including Bagambe, Bwongoza Faux and Gikomando with classic reggae beats but the later expressed dissatisfaction at not being allowed to reach the crowd for security reasons.

"I had prepared my performance to involve the fans. It didn’t go as I wanted it,” Rafiki said

Christian Tembu, the events manager for East African Promoters, the show organisers said that there was not enough room for the artistes to mingle with the crowd because "the number of people is too big and it’s not safe”.

Eric Senderi, in heavy racetrack wear came up next with his eccentric dancers as he performed some of his songs such as Twaribohoye and Jalousie.

TNP

TNP came on next with their dancers warming up the stage for them first. The boys performed their catchy beats including Kamucerenge and Umunyabirori, to the delight of their fans.

Up next was Knowless, who sent the crowd wild. The singer did not disappoint with a performance of Sweet Mutima, WariUrihe and Baramushaka.

Bulldog, clad in a basketball vest, khaki shorts and a school bag arrived on stage with a bang, performing Nkumusaza and Cinema with residents of Nyagatare showing their love for hip hop.

Jules Sentore, not to be left out coined out great performances of his songs Kora Akazi, Udatsikira and Ngera which he complemented by delightful dancing.

To wrap a day of good performances, the Active boys took the stage last, entertaining the crowd with wonderful dance moves as they performed Aisha and Lift.

Teddy Mukashyaka, a fan, said that the artistes did their best to entertain the crowd while the performances indicated that Rwandan music has improved tremendously.

"It has been a wonderful show, we enjoyed every bit of it,” said Mukashyaka, as the crowd thinned away with a smile on each of the faces that showed up in Rukomo.

The next lap of the show will be in Kabarondo.
