Rwanda has shocked hosts Mozambique with a 1-0 victory in the opening game of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying campaign at the Stadio Nacional de Zimpeto in Maputo on Sunday afternoon.
Ernest Sugira netted a superb header from a Jacques Tuyisenge cross on the right flank in the third minute to give the visitors an early lead.
Johnny McKinstry's side defended for the rest of the game and managed to hold on to the 1-0 lead to bag a well deserved three points to top Group H with Ghana hosting Mauritius in the second Group H game later on Sunday evening at the Accra Sports Stadium.
